Oklahoma country music star Carrie Underwood ranks as one of the most beautiful people on the planet, according to People magazine.

The magazine put the Checotah native on its 2009 “World’s Most Beautiful People” list, joining Oscar winner Halle Berry, “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson and “Slumdog Millionaire” actress Freida Pinto.

The celebrity magazine’s annual “Most Beautiful” special issue hits newsstands today. It features 100 famous people, including first lady Michelle Obama, “High School Musical” actor Zac Efron and supermodel Cindy Crawford posing without makeup.

Christina Applegate leads the list and graces the issue’s cover. Applegate, 37, is the star of the TV show “Samantha Who?” She recently underwent a public battle with breast cancer, undergoing a double mastectomy in July and reconstructive breast surgery in November.

Others featured on the list include the cast of the TV remake “90210,” Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor and country stars Taylor Swift and Julianne Hough.

Underwood told People that even after frequenting the Grammys, Oscars and other awards shows the past few years, she gets nervous on red carpets.

“I feel more beautiful when I see the pictures after. I’m like, ‘I wish I had felt like I looked like that when I was actually there,’” she told People.
